Fresh Cut Flower Info

• When choosing flowers, look for upright and firm petals/buds just beginning to open. Yellowish, spotted or drooping leaves may be signs of age.

• Prepare a clean vase or other waterproof container. Remove flowers from the wrapping and mix the included flower food as directed with water and add it to your vessel. Flower food is made of citric acid and sugar. The citric acid stops bacteria growth and the sugar feeds the flowers, allowing them to develop their best colour and fragrance, keeping them fresh as long as possible. Top up the vase as needed with any excess solution.

• Removing the tie from a hand-tied bouquet runs the risk of undoing the intended design.

• All flowers require a fresh cut with a sharp tool before immediately going into the prepared water solution. Woody blooms may require a pair of clippers. Never crush or burn stems, this stops the uptake of water.

• Remove any leaves below the waterline to stop bacterial growth.

• Keep flowers cool in a place away from sunlight, warm air or appliances, fresh fruit, smoke and other fumes (Flowers age faster when near heat and gasses) 

• Recut your flowers often, change the water solution and clean the vase, they’ll last longer!
